The internet is the greatest media disseminator of contemporary culture which breaks the information monopoly of traditional media and the limitation of region, distance and ideology. It exposes people to every kind of opinions and culture and realizes the immediacy of message. With the emergence of Internet, Chinese music fan converted themselves from “the generation of Cut-out” rapidly. And there exist all kinds of professional music website, BBS, FTP, Dropbox and QQ group which become the paradise of the music fans.
We have invited 5 guests to this forum who are all experts on Jazz since the BBS generation. They will tell us some Jazz stories in the time of Internet, ECM Jazz disc recording,Chinese Jazz Writing Collective, Jazz group in Douban. The Internet plays a very important place in the dissemination of Jazz music yet it also accelerates the distinction of entity record industry. How can we face and handle it? How will the music be transmitted in the future?
Hope that this discussion can give all of you a full version of the dissemination of Jazz Music in China ever since the existence of Internet. And hope it will also paint a vivid yet lively picture of Jazz for the major fans.
