OXYD is a five-member band coming from Paris, France, influenced by modern jazz musicians, as Jim Black, Steve Coleman, John Hollenbeck, Marc Ducret and bands like AlasNoAxis, Kneebody, Radiohead or Sonic Youth. The band plays their own compositions inspired by European and American jazz music, but with influences of rock, pop, free jazz and contemporary music.
OXYD is composed by young musicians playing on Paris’ stage, rest of the France and Europe. Band is conducted by pianist and composer Alexandre Herer, playing in this band the Fender Rhodes, electronics and several effects. Trumpet player Olivier Laisney and tenor sax player Julien Pontvianne play in Oxyd as a great front line, as well in leading melody and improvising. Band is supported by an high quality rhythm section: Oliver Degabriele on electric bass and Thibault Perriard on drums.
Since its establishment in 2006, OXYD had performed in lots of festivals and venues in Paris, France, Europe and United States. The band released his first album in April 2009. The second one, “Oblivious”, is out since March 2011 on the French label « Juste Une Trace », and distributed in France by Socadisc. Its third album “Plasticity” was released in May 2013.
