Henri Texier生于1945年1月27日，在青少年时期便邂逅了爵士，并迅速从钢琴转向了低音提琴。Texier是一位自学成才的低音提琴手，Wilbur Ware对他的影响最深。经由Daniel Humair介绍，他在一些巴黎人的俱乐部演奏，有机会与Bud Powell、Kenny Clarke、Lee Konitz、Dexter Gordon等大师同台演奏。自那时起，他便没有停下过创作的脚步，和数以百计的乐团及艺术家合作，其中很多都享有盛名。他和Phil Woods and His European Rhythm Machine（由Phil Woods、George Gruntz和Daniel Humair组成）进行了欧洲巡演，并在美国的新港爵士音乐节（Newport Jazz Festival）登台献演；他也到访过非洲、马达加斯加、印度、中东、加拿大和日本。

Henri Texier’s path is called the most symbolic and the richest of the European Jazz musicians. Symbol of a generation who has done wonders for the self-confidence and eager for experiment, the double bassist was the inexhaustible catalyst of musical adventures, occupying a determining role — by his capacity to federate the creative energies.

Henri Texier, born in January 27th, 1945, discovers jazz while he was a young teenager and very fast gives up piano for double bass. Texier was a self-taught jazz bassist, crediting Wilbur Ware most as an influence. He was introduced into the Parisian clubs by Daniel Humair and he played with great masters such as Bud Powell, Kenny Clarke, Lee Konitz, Dexter Gordon and more. Since then, he keeps working with hundreds of groups and prestigious creators. He toured through Europe and played at Newport Jazz Festival (USA) with Phil Woods and His European Rhythm Machine (Phil Woods, George Gruntz and Daniel Humair) which he created. He also visited Africa, Madagascar, India, Middle East, Canada and Japan.

He recorded a hundred of disks, among which more than twenty under his name. He released a CD of the Henri Texier Hope Quartet with Sébastien Texier (clarinet, alto sax), François Corneloup (baritone sax) and Louis Moutin (drums) in march 2013 for Label BLEU entitled “Live at L’Improviste”. His next CD is “Sky Dancers” (2016) with the Sky Dancers Sextet released by label BLEU.

Horse Orchestra是现代北欧爵士音乐圈中一支重要的新生力量。乐团的成员成功地将爵士传统的部分与突破性的现代音乐实验相结合——来自20年代新奥尔良的经典爵士曲目，与60年代的自由爵士和现代古典音乐相碰撞，造就了他们北欧爵士圈中独树一帜的、极具原创性的后现代风格。

Horse Orchestra由7名来自冰岛、瑞典、挪威和丹麦的音乐家组成，2011年创建于哥本哈根。乐团成员最初于哥本哈根的韵律音乐学院（Rhythmic Music Conservatory）就学时相识，而这支乐团也正是新一代杰出音乐家的代表——他们能够很好地继承历史传承下来的音乐遗产，并力图将现代爵士音乐推向全新的高度。换句话说，组成这支乐团的演奏家，全都是在接下来的数年里将为北欧爵士树立全新标准的人物。

Horse Orchestra的所有成员皆属于哥本哈根地下爵士圈的一份子。Jeppe Zeeberg来自音乐家团体兼唱片厂牌Barefoot Records，他是这个世代最重要的丹麦钢琴家之一； 挪威小号手Erik Kimestad虽然年纪轻轻，但已在哥本哈根爵士圈引发了一股小众热潮；萨克斯手Ingimar Andersen则是冰岛最优秀的青年才俊之一，同时也因其作为乐队Reginfrra乐手的身份为人所知。Horse Orchestra为现代北欧音乐提供了一种有趣的可能性。这“七匹马”的足迹已经留在了丹麦、瑞典、挪威、冰岛和德国。

Horse Orchestra is an important new band on the modern Nordic jazz scene. The band members succeed in combining parts of the history of jazz with modern barrier-breaking musical experiments. Classical jazz compositions from 1920’s New Orleans here meet free jazz from the 1960’s as well as modern classical music, and it all ends up in an original, post-modernistic style that has no equivalent on the Nordic jazz scene.

Horse Orchestra was formed in Copenhagen in 2011, and consists of seven young musicians from Iceland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The band members first met while studying at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, and the band is a testimony to a new generation of musicians who master their musical historical legacy and try to help modern jazz music reach new heights. In other words, the band consists of a handful of instrumentalists who are going to set standard for Nordic jazz for the next couple of years.

The orchestra’s debut album “Living the Dream” was released in September 2014 and won two Danish Music Awards in 2015 in the categories New Name of the Year and Special Release of the Year. Quote the jury, “This band consists of young musicians who have no respect for conventions. They do as they please without looking to what other musicians do. One moment they may plunge into New Orleans compositions from the 1920’s, and the next moment jazz from 1960’s Chicago, playing both styles with equal conviction – while at the same time adding to the music a personal and original touch… No doubt the band has a twinkle in the eye, and that they are determined to ‘conquer the world’.”

All of Horse Orchestra’s band members are a part of Copenhagen’s jazz underground. Jeppe Zeeberg is one of the most significant Danish pianists of his generation, coming out of musicians collective and record label Barefoot Record. In spite of his young age Norwegian trumpet player Erik Kimestad is already a cult phenomenon on the Copenhagen jazz scene. Saxophonist Ingimar Andersen is one of Icelands greatest young talents and known from the band Reginfrra. The band is an interesting proposal for how modern Nordic music may sound. The seven horses have performed in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Germany.

For Horse Orchestra humor is just as important an element as the instrumental equilibrism and the compelling compositions. In this way, the humorous and flourishing music is so infectious that you happily engage with the orchestra’s occasionally extreme tonal experiments.

Horse Orchestra are currently working on a new album to be released in 2016.
