Rava决定将他纳入Rava Under 21项目中,也就是后来的Rava New Generation项目。
在那之后,他在Cam Jazz厂牌旗下发行了四张专辑——四重奏作品《Indian Summer》和《The House Behind This One》,十人乐队作品《The Unknown Rebel Band》,以及与Gianluca Petrella、Michael Blake、Thomas Morgan、Gerald Cleaver合作的《We Don’t Live Here Anymore》,于纽约录制。
此前,Guidi也参与了Enrico Rava在该厂牌旗下发行的2张专辑的录制——《Tribe》和《On The Dance Floor》。
2015年3月,ECM发行了他与Thomas Morgan和Joao Lobo合作的专辑《This is the Day》;今秋,ECM将会推出他与Gianluca Petrella、Louis Sclavis、Gerald Cleaver合作的全新专辑《Ida Lupino》。
Born in Foligno 1985, Giovanni Guidi met Enrico Rava during a workshop in Siena. Rava noticed his talent and decided to include him in the Rava Under 21 project, which would become Rava New Generation a short while after. With this group, Guidi recorded two CDs in 2006 and in 2010 for “L’ESPRESSO” magazine.
At the moment, besides the partnership with Gianluca Petrella and the long time collaboration with Enrico Rava from PM Jazz Lab to Tribe, Guidi is the leader of several groups, trio with Luca Aquino and Michele Rabbia, Thanks for the Fire, and duo Netsuke with Daniele Di Bonaventura on bandoneon, and his new quartet with trumpet player Mirco Rubegni, bassist Joe Rehmer and drummer Fabrizio Sferra.
He took part in a very large number of important jazz festivals all around the world, among which we may mention Umbria Jazz, New Conversations Vicenza Jazz, Stavanger International Jazz Festival, Moldejazz, Jazzaldia, North Sea Jazz Festival, San Francisco Jazz Festival and Portland Jazz Festival. He also performed in many clubs and theaters in New York, San Paolo, Rio De Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Brasilia, Berlin, Paris, London, Monaco, Dublin, Seoul and Hong Kong.
His first album as a leader is “Tomorrow Never Knows”, recorded by the Japanese label Venus, receiving five stars in a review by the “Swing Journal” magazine.
After that he released four further albums under Cam Jazz label — “Indian Summer” and “ The House Behind This One” recorded with his quartet, “The Unknown Rebel Band” with a band of ten elements and “We Don’t Live Here Anymore” recorded in New York with Gianluca Petrella, Michael Blake, Thomas Morgan and Gerald Clever.
His first album as leader released by the prestigious ECM label is dated 2013, “City of Broken Dreams”, recorded in trio with Thomas Morgan and Joao Lobo. Guidi had just recorded previously two other albums for ECM, “Tribe” and “On The Dance Floor”, both by Enrico Rava.
Guidi won, moreover, several awards. He has been named “Best New Talent of 2007” by a jury of 58 journalists and critics in a poll entitled “TOP JAZZ”, held yearly by the Italian magazine “Musica Jazz”.
On March 2015 ECM released “This is the Day” recorded with Thomas Morgan and Joao Lobo. On Autumn 2016 will be released a new ECM album “Ida Lupino” with Gianluca Petrella, Louis Sclavis and Gerald Cleaver.
