“This is carefully-crafted, playful music from all over the world, rendered with a Central Europe flavor. Craggy rhythms and melodies with no foreseeable direction make this offering endlessly enjoyable. ” (C.Michael Bailey, All About Jazz)
This Duo stands out because of its tremendous diversity of sounds.
Unconventional playing-techniques like inside piano playing or the playing of the violin as if it would be a bass or a guitar are used and the whole thing is expanded by the use of effects and percussion instruments which make the stage look like a huge playing ground.
Only original compositions of both musicians are played – also some pieces out of David Helbock´s “Personal Realbook”, where he wrote a new tune every day for a whole year in 2009.
In September 2011, their CD was released by the Berlin label Traumton Records.
In 2011 they played tours mainly through the German speaking countries but also in the Iran, NYC or up to Chile, where they played at the biggest Jazz festival of South America, the Providencia Jazz in Santiago.
David Helbock
A two-times prizewinner and the audience prize at the world biggest jazz-piano-solo competition of the jazz festival Montreux, a lot of enthusiastic critics for his HDV Trio and Solo CDs. David Helbock, the pianoplayer coming from a small little village in Austria called Koblach, is with no doubt, on his way up to a great international musical career.
Helbock is not only a great pianist; he is also a very individual thinker, who is investing not only a lot of dexterity but also quite an amount of brain activity to his projects.
Also playing solo not only on piano, where David Helbock has dealt a lot with extended inside piano techniques on the strings of the piano, but also playing solo with keyboards, effects and toys is very interesting for him.
