来自新疆的哈萨克音乐家马木尔和他的IZ乐队在中国的独立音乐界是个具有传奇色彩的乐队。他们在国内没有出过一张正式的专辑,但凭借在英国Real World公司推出的他们的唱片《鹰》(Eagle)而广为世界所知。没有大量宣传,却总能吸引众多的追随者。
上个世纪九十年代,他的音乐受到了Yes、Pink Floyd、King Crimson 等经典乐队的影响, 但其低沉浑厚的嗓音与充满地下气息的电吉他演奏马上就确立了自己独特的风格。
2002年,马木尔来到了北京组建IZ乐队, 他开始重新演绎记忆中那些不知名作者创作的歌曲,并为古老的哈萨克民谣谱曲。“IZ”哈萨克语中意为“脚印”, 它象征着乐队将追随哈萨克民间音乐家的足迹而前进。
他仍然生活在乌鲁木齐, 并不时回到属于哈萨克人的草原和高原牧场, 让自己安静下来。 马木尔说, 只有这样, 他才能继续创造属于自己的声音。
Came from XinJiang, Kazakhstan’s musician, Ma Mu Er and his IZ Band is a name with legend in Chinese independent music field. Without lots of promotions, they still always have lots of fans. They even haven’t published a formal album in mainland, but the album named <Eagle>published by Real World Company in Britain made them famous all over the world.
Last century at nineties, his music was influenced by Yes, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, but his low and deep voice and electric guitar show which is filled fully with underground smell made himself an unique style. In 2002, Ma Mu Er built his IZ band in Beijing. IZ in Kazakhstan means footprint, and it stands for the band would chase after the footprint of Kazakhstan’s folk musicians.
He still lives in Wulumuqi and often comes back to the grassland and pasture land, belonging to Kazakhstan, to calm himself down. He said, only being here, he could continue to create his own voice.
