Uz Jsme Doma（简称“UJD”）成军于1985年，是一支来自捷克的先锋摇滚乐队。

乐队至今已发行了7张录音室专辑，2张现场专辑，1张精选合辑，以及1张包含了现场录像和乐队历史纪录片的DVD。该纪录片探讨了乐队的艺术意义，并历数了他们在30年乐队生涯中的多次阵容变化。UJD涉猎范围甚广，参与了一系列有野心的项目，包括与剧院、电影和艺术项目的合作。他们与世界知名的乐队The Residents在Freak Show[1]这个项目上有过密切的合作，并与他们以及一众优秀的音乐人成为了好朋友，包括美国大提琴手Tom Cora，美国作曲家Amy Denio，美国音乐人、前朋克摇滚乐队Dead Kennedys歌手Jello Biafra，以及美国音乐家David Thomas等等。

乐队常在全世界巡演，自德国的第一场海外演出算起，他们已经去过了39个国家。

乐队对编曲的处理在摇滚乐领域算得上自成一家：基于同样的音阶和音调，却把乐器和人声带到了截然不同的方向，并营造出一种饱满浓郁、韵律十足的氛围。另外，他们在演奏中经常将重音放在弱拍和半拍上，这样的处理方式给观众带来了意想不到的新鲜感受。他们的音乐似乎是一种令人应接不暇的美丑并置，乐曲中常利用高频率的调式转换来制造激昂有力的“hooks”[2]（《Hollywood》这首歌就是一个很好的例子）。乐队也非常热衷在拍号间的切换，以及利用额外的节奏穿插来塑造更为立体的乐曲氛围。

凭借其过人的词作，主唱Wanek成为了备受推崇的捷克诗人。他的歌词意图达到卡夫卡——他们极具影响力的捷克同胞，同时也是他们的灵感源泉之一——所说的那种“劈开内心冰封海面的大斧”的境界。他所有的歌词都有英文译本，但乐队本身在演出和CD中都使用捷克语。

乐队中有一位不参与演奏的成员——画家Martin Velisek，在UJD之外，他的作品也被发表于不少刊物，并且获得了不少人气。他独特而怪异的卡通风格有着复杂的美感，充斥着现实主义与荒诞恐怖，也使得UJD唱片的视觉形象独具一格。

[1] Freak Show标志着上世纪90年代The Residents开始对新兴的电脑技术着迷并创作的系列作品。乐队还用Freak Show命名了其他周边：包括94年发行的一张CD-ROM版本的原声专辑，由一个剧院公司主办的95年11月1日在布拉格Archa剧院首演的一个舞台表演和一本漫画书。

Uz Jsme Doma (pronounced “oosh-smeh-dough-ma”), is a progressive avant-garde rock band from Czech Republic, formed 1985.

The band has, to date, released seven proper studio albums, two live albums, a best-of package and a DVD containing live footage and a documentary about the history of the band, which discusses its artistic significance and chronicles its dozens of lineup changes in its 30 year career. UJD has taken on a wide array of ambitious projects, including work with theater, film and art. They collaborated very closely to the world famous band The Residents on their Freak Show[1] and fell in friendship with them and many other great musicians all over the world (Tom Cora, Amy Denio, Jello Biafra, David Thomas etc).

Band tours frequently all over the world, from first foreign show in Germany till now they visited 39 different countries.

The band’s approach to arrangements is unique in the world of rock. They bring the instruments and vocals in different directions within the same scales and keys to create a dense melodic atmosphere. In addition, their rhythms often accent off-beats and half-beats, throwing the listener in unexpected directions. The music seems to be an exhausting juxtaposition between beauty and ugliness, as songs will frequently shift between modes to create tumultuous, powerful hooks[2] (a good example of this is the song “Hollywood”). The band is also fond of shifts between time signatures and the insertion of extra beats in the shaping of the mood of the song.

Wanek’s lyrics have earned him a reputation as a respected Czech poet. His lyrics aim, in the famous words of one of the band’s inspirations, their fellow countryman and influence Franz Kafka, to be “an axe for the frozen sea inside us”. All lyrics are translated to English, but the band sings in Czech language on stage and on CD’s.

Artist Martin Velisek, the non-playing UJD member, has been published in several volumes and enjoyed popularity outside of his work with UJD as well. His unique, absurd cartoon style, replete with alarming flourishes of realism, gruesomeness and beauty, gives UJD records their distinct look.

[1] Freak Show marked the beginning of The Residents’ obsession with emerging computer technology in the 1990s. “Freak Show” also served as the name for a CD-ROM that was released in 1994, a stage performance by a theater company at the Archa Theater in Prague that premiered on November 1st, 1995, and a comic book.

[2] A hook is a musical idea, often a short riff, passage, or phrase, that is used in popular music to make a song appealing and to “catch the ear of the listener”.

有波兰血统的加拿大小号手兼作曲家Jacques Kuba Séguin现在拥有着超高的关注度，他是2012年加拿大广播电台爵士新发现奖（Révélation Jazz Radio-Canada）获得者。Jacques多才多艺且喜欢冒险，喜欢通过参与各种乐队，使自己的声音更上一层楼——在ODD LOT乐团[1]中，这位来自蒙特利尔的音乐家将东欧音乐、爵士乐和电子音乐融合在一起；而在Litania Projekt中，他又将新古典音乐与北欧爵士乐合二为一。Jacque以其对小号抒情而又强烈的现代演奏手法见长，作为一个土生土长的蒙特利尔人，他的音乐也显现出来自当地的多民族性。

Litania Projekt

在新古典主义音乐与北欧爵士的影响下，Jacques Kuba Séguin创立了Litania Projekt。这个组合集合了蒙特利尔最具表现力的几位音乐家——Jacques Kuba Séguin（小号、作曲）、Frédéric Alarie（低音提琴）、Jonathan Cayer（钢琴）和Martin Auguste（鼓）。

乐团追求着微妙而又极富诗意的时刻，观众很难不被成员之间紧密相连的音乐纽带所打动。聆听他们的时候，会让人觉得时间凝固在一瞬间，像摇篮曲一样唤起你激荡灵感的忧郁和柔软的记忆。

Winner of the 2012 Révélation Jazz Radio-Canada prize, this Canadian trumpeter and composer of Polish origins is turning heads. Versatile and adventurous, he’s a player who likes to shape up his sound with different outfits: with the ODD LOT[1] ensemble, the Montreal musician blends Eastern European music, jazz and electronica, while in the Litania Projekt, he marries neoclassical with Northern European jazz. Known for his lyrical as well as his strong modern approach to trumpet playing, Jacques was born and raised in Montreal and fits well its multi-ethnicity.

Always reaching for his Polish roots, Jacques thrives for new ways of approaching the traditional jazz idiom. Inspired by his various collaborations with companies like Cirque du soleil and various pop and classical artists, Jacques breaks out from jazz tradition to create the urge for improvisation inside his ensembles.

Litania Projekt

For Litania Projekt , Jacques Kuba Séguin is influenced by neoclassical music and Northern European jazz. This ensemble unifies few of Montreal’s most expressive musicians: Jacques Kuba Séguin (trumpet and compositions) Frédéric Alarie (double bass), Jonathan Cayer (piano) and Martin Auguste (drums).

This ensemble thrives for subtle but strong lyrical moments and it is very hard to not be touched by the musical bond of this group. The experience of Litania Projekt seems like a moment where time stops for the moment of a lullaby reminding inspirational melancholia and tender memories.

In symbiosis with the expressive bass player Frédéric Alarie, Jacques finds new ways to use the sound of the trumpet as rarely heard before by presenting a program that swings between modernity and tradition.

Litania Projekt was on tour in spring 2014 in Poland then accompanied by a string quartet at the L’Astral concert hall for the 2014 edition of the Montreal International Jazz Festival.
