Zoro Babel – Percussion打击乐

Zoro Babel 出生于1967年德国的Bavaria。在1975年到1983年间他跟随着他父母（德国最早期Kraut Rock代表乐队）四处表演。1983和1984年，他参加了纽约伍德斯托克Creative Music工作室开设的夏季课程。随后与Markus 和Simon Stockhausen一起开始了巡回演唱会。他的第一份工作是在剧场。

1988年，他与其他人一起组建了Kairos组合。1990，他组建了Focus Pocus乐队。从1988年起，他开始为电影创作主题曲，值得强调的是其与澳洲电影人Lisi Frischengruber的合作。从1991年开始，他与Alexei Sagerer开张了众多项目计划，比如担任Josef Anton Riedl的音乐与技术助理等。他还与Michael Lentz合作，组织了许多关于新音乐与声音艺术的音乐节。从1996年起，Babel将铁箱装置制作成为乐器，并频繁在各类音乐与艺术节上进行演出。他也开始成为许多现代音乐项目的总监，并且获得了慕尼黑音乐奖。

Zoro Babel 也是一名优秀的先锋鼓手，出版过许多唱片，中国的资深ECM爵士乐迷应该记得他跟Markus Stockhausen 、Gary Peacock 、Fabrizio Ottaviucci等人合作的《Cosi Lontano… Quasi Dentro》，那是他早期的作品。

Zoro was born in 1967 in Upper Bavaria, Peter churches. Between 1975 and 1983 he performed with the group Anima Musica. He attended the summer sessions of the Creative Music Studio in Woodstock, NY from 1983 to 1984. This was followed by concert tours with Markus and Simon Stockhausen and first work for the theater.

In 1988, Babel together with the other group Kairos, 1990 he co-founded the band Focus Pocus. Since 1988, he produced film scores, notably in cooperation with the Austrian filmmaker Lisi Frischengruber; Babel works since 1991 in numerous projects with Alexei Sagerer and – as a musical and technical assistant – for Josef Anton Riedl. In collaboration with Michael Lentz created compositions of music and language. Babel appeared at various festivals for new music and sound art festivals since 1996, metal lockers, which he transformed into musical instruments. He took over the sound director for various projects of contemporary music and was awarded the Music Prize of the city of Munich.

Zoro Babel is also an excellent avant-garde drummer. He has published many records. Senior jazz fans of ECM should remember this one – Cosi Lontano… Quasi Dentro, which is his early works by cooperating with Markus Stockhausen, Gary Peacock, Fabrizio Ottaviucci…

Elmar最初在奥地利的Innsbruck的音乐学院学习低音大提琴。随后在维也纳音乐学院继续深造，师从Ludwig Streicher。他也曾在奥地利的Graz爵士学院学习即兴爵士表演，并与Wayne Darling合作；也曾在维也纳电子与实验音乐学校跟随导师Dieter Kaufmann学习，并与低音大提琴大师Barré Phillips合作演出。

Elmar于1988年开始在奥地利、德国、意大利进行巡回演出，1991年组建了“Dada Kongress”乐队，1992年与奥地利国家电视台合作制作了专辑“Tyromania-Tour“ 。1993年开始在意大利、比利时和法国进行独奏巡演，1995年带着作品” Wellenbrecher “参加了慕尼黑的声音艺术节。1996年与 Fred Frith 合作，在Bayern2  电台录制了Rabenstein， 并与Cornelie Müller 合作创作了hier & jetzt。

在他的音乐演奏中，即兴创作是很重要的一部分。他尝试将个人元素与音乐中的各种结构形式结合作为引子，并最终与心灵碰撞在一起。对他来说，也许往往无法说出他的音乐旅程会通向何方，但是，这趟旅程是永远不会结束的，因为音乐是一个持续变化的过程。另外，独奏是表演中极其重要的一方面，能够使一个人的演出形成丰富的效果。Elmar曾与许多爵士好手共同合作，多年来受他们的影响与推动，一直保持着对他们的致敬，他们是Fernando Grillo, Stefano Scodanibbio, Barre Phillips, Barry Guy, Dave Holland。

Elmar Guantes

Elmar initially studied double bass in Austria’s Conservatory in Innsbruck. Then he keep studied at the Vienna Academy of Music, where he studied from Ludwig Streicher. He also learned the Jazz improvisation  in Austria Graz Jazz Academy during that time and also had the collaboration with Wayne Darling.Later on he studied in electronic and experimental music school  in Vienna followed by Dieter Kaufmann, and he callaborated with the bass masters Barré Phillips Orchestra.

Elmar began his tour in Austria, Germany and Italy Since 1988. In 1991 ,he has found the band of “Dada Kongress” .  In 1992,he co-produced the album “Tyromania-Tour” with the Austrian national television. In1993, he began on solo tour in Italy, Belgium and France. In 1995 ,he participated in the sound art festival in Munich with works “Wellenbrecher” . And in 1996 he started callaborated with Fred Frith, has recorded Rabenstein in Bayern2 radio, and he cooperated with Cornelie Müller about  the album”hier & jetzt”.

Since improvisation is an important part of his music, he tried to put individual elements and the music combine in a variety of structural forms as primers, and eventually collide with the mind together. It is hard for him to tell where his music journey will go, but this trip never comes to an end because the music is a continuous changing process. In addition, the solo is an extremely important aspect of performance that allows the formation of a person’s performance rich effect. Elmar has worked with many jazz players; his music was influenced by them for many years so he always shows the respect for them, they are Fernando Grillo, Stefano Scodanibbio, Barre Phillips, Barry Guy, and Dave Holland.

Elmar has now been living and working in Munich.
