Odd Beholder的音乐既清醒又梦幻，那般气息使人仿佛置身朦胧晨光中空无一人的停车场。

Odd Beholder能够精准地诠释“疏离”。他们在音乐中不断实验，目的却是到达简约。Daniela Weinmann和Tim Wettstein这对音乐人创作的敏锐而质朴的音乐，展现了他们对人类最深层、最复杂的情绪进行探索的兴趣。这种内敛而带点漫不经心的音乐，是他们入侵更庞大叙事场景的武器。正如乐队的名字（Odd Beholder：古怪的观察者）所言，他们觉得自己是这个奇怪世界的观察者，但这种观察也并非袖手旁观，他们尝试把观察视象整合，并赋予它们意义。

目前，乐队共发行了两张EP，分别是2016年的《Lighting》和2017年的《Atlas》。《Atlas》延续了《Lighting》中简约、冷静的电子乐风格，也是其内容的续写。《Lighting》的核心主题是“观察”这一行为，《Atlas》的视角则集中在观察者本身上。观察者像是一个旅人，或是朝圣者，在这个世界里跋涉寻觅，忧心忡忡，迷失自我，渴望陪伴。Odd Beholder阐释道：“《Atlas》 探讨的是恐惧——我们如何面对恐惧，以及对抗它对我们的道德和理性的侵蚀。这些歌曲向你伸出邀请之手，愿你放下恐惧，而投身于那些真正值得我们找寻、坚守和奋斗的东西。”

在《Lighting》发行后，Odd Beholder持续活跃，频繁地在大大小小的舞台登场，而他们在地下音乐圈十分火爆的歌曲《Landscape Escape》，以及为这首歌在阿塞拜疆拍摄的MV，更为他们吸引到了无数乐迷的关注。

Both sober and dreamy: Odd Beholder’s music is as sublime as an empty parking lot in early morning light.

Odd Beholder articulate alienation. They develop their songs by experimenting but their goal is simplicity. The precise, unpretentious music reflects Daniela Weinmann’s and Tim Wettstein’s shared interest in ambivalent moods. They create introverted, stripped-down music that becomes a Trojan horse for bigger things. As beholders, they stand next to what’s going on in a strange world, but they don’t perceive themselves as innocent bystanders. Instead, Daniela Weinmann and Tim Wettstein try to sort things out and make sense of their impressions.

In spring 2017, the band has released its second EP “Atlas” that takes up the cool and minimalistic electronica of the first EP “Lighting” released in 2016, and continues where it left off. While the first EP put the act of beholding in the centre of the songs, the second EP highlights the beholder himself. Like a tourist, like a pilgrim he roams the earth in search of direction. He’s broke, he worries, he has difficulties to find his point of view and he yearns for a companion. “The songs on ‘Atlas’ discuss fear, our strategies of coping with it and its danger of corrupting our moral compass and our logic. The songs are an invitation to let go of fear and to dedicate oneself to something that is worth finding, keeping and fighting for”, explains the band.

Since the release of “Lighting” a lot has been set in motion for Odd Beholder. Both on the large and small scale the duo literally has been on the move and gathering attention with their many concerts and above all the underground hit “Landscape Escape” as well as the corresponding video shot in Azerbaijan.

After studying classical piano, guitar and harmony, Belgium born Phil Abraham was seduced by jazz and took up the trombone, on which he is self-taught. His stylistic evolution is parallel to the history of jazz, and as a modern soloist today, he has worked with a wide variety of renowned musicians such as R&B tenor sax man, Hal Singer, fellow Belgian and whistler Toots Thielemans, Lew Tabackin, Art Farmer and Claudio Roditi. He was also one of the musicians who played on Michel Petrucciani’s last European tour.

Phil Abraham has taken part in more than 60 albums, 11 with his own group, with which he won many prizes. He won the first prize at the International Jazz Contest in Sorgues (France) in 1988 and was chosen as the best Belgian and European trombone player by the listeners of the Belgian radio and the Belgian critics for two consecutive years of 1998 and 1999. He has often been invited in big bands as a soloist. He took part in many recordings and concerts of the big band of the Belgian Radio (BRT) and was the first Belgian Jazzman to be a member of the French National Jazz Orchestra. He also devotes his career to teaching, training courses and master-classes. He was a teacher of vocal improvisation in Antwerp and Brussels. He is now a jazz and trombone teacher at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and at the National Conservatory in Douai (France).
